Gema’s Difficult Tonsillectomy Recovery
Had my tonsillectomy Wednesday 18th Nov. it’s 3:11am and I’m awake in absolute agony despite taking codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen regular I’ve just woke up and I’m in so much pain. I think maybe the scabs have come off my throat feels so raw I’ve just sprayed it with benztdamine spray to numb it for a while. Suffered for years with tonsillitis and tonsil stones think I had halitosis as well and I had quinsy as a result of tonsillitis a few months ago and was in hospital 3 days, earlier this year, so I decided enough was enough and went ahead with the op. If I’d of known how bad the pain is an healing process I’d of thought twice!! I cry take meds cry some more-would rather give birth to my children with no pain relief than go through this! My partner never gets Ill and has no sympathy at all to him tonsillectomy is like having a tooth out. I think everyone’s getting fed up of me wining now tbh! I actually thought I had a high pain tolerance b4 experiencing this. Atm I can’t see no light at the end of the tunnel it’s so depressing I would love to go to bed tomorrow and wake up feeling a lil bit better rather than waking up shaking in pain it’s torture! Sorry for the rant just feeling so low! Hope this is my lowest … I’d just like to say I think this site is amazing and I’m so glad that I’m not alone in feeling like this.
Please know that it will get better. You will make it through this. Each day you will get a little bit closer to being recovered, tonsil free, and healthy.
I’m so glad I had mine out. This is the first school year I have taken 0 sick days as a teacher. Prior to my surgery I would have 15-20 sick days per year.
It will be worth it all in the end. Stay strong. Call your doctor, too, and let him/her know what is going on.
Great advice Shirley! I agree- my life is much better without those darned tonsils! Hang in there Gema- Won’t be long and you’ll be the one offering advice!
