Panic Attacks and Tonsillectomy – Tara’s Story

how long to recover from tonsillectomy

Tara’s Tonsillectomy

Hello. So for passed 3 years I’ve had 12+ strep and tonsillitis and acid reflux which all didn’t help my tonsils. finally this year Dec 9th I’ve gotten my tonsils removed. I don’t know about you but I had a few panic attacks few days and day before the surgery. I was terrified of the recovery overall. Day 1 I barely felt anyways few hours after getting out of surgery. Later that Night my whole entire head hurt and I was spitting up coughing blood all night. Day 2 I went home. Left the hotel. This had to be the worst day I was so exhausted and red in the face with pain. I couldn’t eat, nor drink to have pain medicine. Every chance I get I always gargle with warm water and salt; before I eat and after. Anytime I felt pain or was uncomfortable. I’ve never eaten first few days just little sips of water to keep me hydrated. When day 5 came I had no blood or anything come.

Out when I gargled salt and water. Day 7 I think I started swallowing my scabs (gross right) I was starting to feel chunks go down my throat then taste little blood then chunks. YUCK!! Once I started being able to drink colder water I made diluted Powerade ice cubes and I would have them with water and it was the best thing in the world. I’m on day 9 now I’ve been feeling really nauseous lately from the Tylenol 3s. Pain isn’t even that bad it’s barely there so I’m starting to take myself off the T3s. I also don’t look pale anymore. I have more energy. Feeling pretty good and I hope it stays that way. Oh yea I also had two tiny bites of scrambled eggs went down good as long as I drink water after swallowing it. Now today I’m going to try little Mac and Cheese. Think that is all. Apologies on my story being all over the place.
