Thanks Robert. I guess I just got overwhelmed. But we are so close, it is going to be over soon....

Soft palate? What does that mean?

It is good to know that the tight throats and the swollen uvula could last for a while. But seriously, did anyone tell YOU that our uvulas were going to be big enough to grab a screaming woman, climb to the top of the empire state building and bat planes from the sky with one fist?!

Emily the only thing that seems to help is gum and doing the holding the ear thing. it seems to come and go sometimes sharper than other times. we are entering the homestretch of the main pain parts so should subside soon. my dr. said the majority of the throat and ear pain should start to subside now into day 10 and beyond and slowly get better each day. the tightness of the throat however can last for a while as can our swollen uvulas and soft palate. i guess some get more swelling then others but majority go thru the swollen uvula part too which i think sticks!

Aww Emily this is rough. I don't know about the ear pain. I'm chewing gum all the time and I'm sure you are too. You're on Day 8, so close to the breakthrough - but that's when time surely drags out the longest. You're exhausted, sleep-deprived, probably undernourished, and DONE with pain, but you can't do anything about it and it's the most frustrating thing on the planet. i too am exhausted. I took a 4-hour nap, if that's what you call it, this afternoon. Whenever you can sleep, do it! We'll have the rest of our lives to get our sleep schedules back on track. Our poor, poor bodies!!

Well friends, I'm sorry to say, but I think I'm giving into the pain. I just can't stand the ear pain and I can't get myself to drink much. I'm finding it hard to stay up on this forum because I'm just so exhausted and I don't have anymore energy. Tried to take a shower tonight and I couldn't make it. Had to get out and sit down - don't worry, I remembered not to put my head down, I'm not going to cough up that uvula ever again! - and then I started shaking. Anybody found any cure to the ear pain? Anything at all?! Please?!

I didn't think it was possible, but I found something that was worse than sneezing. Hiccups. Those dirty little bastards. I felt these even through the fog of painkillers. And of course it's not just one or two. It's a whole slough of them. One after another. Over and over again. Omg it was a nightmare. It hurt so bad I started crying. Then before I know it I'm laughing hysterically because it hurts so bad. Which actually made it hurt worse (up until that point I did not think it was possible). And the worst part was I couldn't stop. The more I hurt the harder I was laughing. I'm sure that was the last straw that tipped me over crazy line. I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. I'm not sure how long it lasted, it felt like hours, but it was the most painful thing that I have felt so far. I think it was a 12 on a scale of 1 - 10.
